We were called out to a terraced house on Guernsey Road, just off Magdalen Road in Norwich. The rear slope of the roof had reached the end of its life. The tiles were tired, the felt underneath had broken down, and the verges were starting to let go.
Rather than patching it up again, the owner asked us to re-roof the back slope properly. That meant stripping everything back and starting fresh.
Our team stripped all the tiles from the rear slope and cleared the old felt, which had become brittle and torn in places. Once the roof was back to bare timbers, we could see exactly what we were working with.
We then fitted:
On terraced houses like this one, the rear slope often gets less attention than the front. But it takes just as much weather, and once the felt fails, water can track into the loft long before you see a leak inside.
A full strip and re-felt sorts the problem at the source. With breathable membrane, treated battens and properly cemented verges, this roof is now set up to protect the house for decades, not just a few more winters.
The finished roof looks sharp, sits neatly against the neighbouring properties, and gives the homeowner complete peace of mind. No more slipped tiles, no more worrying every time the wind picks up.
Everything was cleared and tidied before we left, with all old tiles and felt removed from site.
