We have recently had our whole roof done (recycling tiles, where possible) and were are very pleased with the work. We know absolutely nothing about roofing, so we were a bit nervous about finding the right team, but we were highly impressed with the company. They explained everything clearly, made us feel completely comfortable and we found the whole process much less difficult that we had anticipated. The office was very efficient and replied quickly, often within the hour. The team of roofers led by Kirk were great. They worked really hard (during some very punishing weather) and kept us fully informed on all aspects of what they were doing - Kirk would often show us photos on his phone to explain things to us and impressed us with his knowledge and enthusiasm. They tidied up after every day and took a real pride in their work. Everything was finished on time and to a high standard. We want to make a special note of the lead work that they did which is fantastic!Posted on Google David PalingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. From my first contact with Point Roofing the service has been excellent. All the admin and arrangements have been swiftly and efficiently dealt with. The three guys who undertook the work are ultimate craftsmen. The quality of the work to retile both the house and shed has been exceptional. They were very easy to work with and, in completing the work, I can see that they have paid attention to every detail. Can’t thank them enough LizPosted on Google Douglas BirdTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Point Roofing have recently cleaned some of our roofing and I must compliment them on their professionalism. From initial quote to timescales and the workforce leaving the site spotless on completion of work it was most impressive .Posted on Google Siobhan MuskettTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We found Point Roofing very efficient. Adam was a good communicator, they came when they said they would, fixed the problem, were pleasant to do business with. We had waited a year for another roofer to fix the problem so we were delighted that Point Roofing were so helpful.
Taverham is practically on our doorstep. Head out of Norwich on the Fakenham Road and you’re there in ten minutes, which is why so much of our week is spent on roofs in this part of the city. Most of Taverham went up in the 60s, 70s and 80s, and those estates are now at the age where roofs start asking for attention. Concrete tiles reaching the end of their life, felt underneath that’s gone brittle, mortar on the verges crumbling away a bit more every winter.
We see the same problems again and again out here, so there’s not much that surprises us. Whether it’s a slipped tile after a windy night, a damp patch spreading across a bedroom ceiling, or a garage roof that should have been replaced years ago, our team of roofers will come and take a look, explain what we find in plain English, and give you a straight price for putting it right.
Walk any street in Taverham and you’ll see row after row of concrete-tiled roofs, most of them original to the house. Concrete tile is tough stuff, but forty or fifty years of Norfolk weather takes its toll. The tiles themselves often outlast the bits holding everything together, so what usually fails first is the mortar along the ridge and verges, the felt underneath, or the odd tile that’s worked loose and slid out of line after a storm.
The trouble with tile problems is they rarely announce themselves. One loose tile lets a bit of rain past, the felt catches it for a while, and by the time you spot a stain on the ceiling the timber underneath has been sitting damp for months. Catching it early is the difference between a morning’s work and a serious bill.
Our approach is simple. We get up there, see exactly what’s happening, and tell you the truth about it. If it’s a repair, we’ll repair it and match the replacement tiles to what’s already on the roof. If the roof genuinely needs replacing, we’ll say so and show you why. What we won’t do is push a full re-roof on a house that just needs some remedial work done properly.
Taverham has more than its share of flat roofs. Garages, kitchen extensions, porches, dormers, most of the estate housing round here picked up at least one flat-roofed addition over the decades, and nearly all of them were covered in felt because that’s what everyone used. Felt does a job, but it doesn’t do it forever. Sun, frost and standing water gradually dry it out, and once it starts cracking and bubbling, water finds its way through faster than you’d think.
If your felt roof is somewhere past the ten-year mark and starting to look tired, it’s worth thinking about what goes on next, because there are far better options now. EPDM rubber is our usual recommendation for garage roofs and bigger areas. It comes in one sheet, so there are no joints to fail, and it copes with hot summers and cold snaps without complaint. GRP fibreglass suits smaller roofs where you want a tough, seamless surface that can take a bit of foot traffic. Both will comfortably outlast the felt they’re replacing.
Not every leaking flat roof needs stripping back, though. Sometimes the problem is one split or a failed joint, and a repair buys the roof years more service. We’ll always tell you which situation you’re in before any money changes hands.
The roofline is one of those parts of a house nobody looks at until something goes wrong. Gutters quietly fill with moss washed down off the tiles, timber fascias soak up water behind flaking paint, and because it’s all happening at height, most people don’t notice until there’s a drip over the front door or a green streak running down the render.
Most Taverham homes were built with timber fascias and soffits, and by now a lot of them have been painted over more times than anyone can count. Paint hides rot, it doesn’t stop it. Once the timber behind the gutter goes soft, the gutter brackets lose their grip, the gutter drops out of level, and water starts going everywhere except the downpipe.
We replace tired rooflines with uPVC that won’t rot, won’t peel, and won’t need a ladder and a paintbrush every few years. If the existing setup just needs re-fixing or a section of guttering swapped out, we’ll do that instead and charge you for a small job, not a big one. Either way, you’ll get an honest assessment and a clear price before anything starts.
Taverham sits on the north-west edge of Norwich, just off the Fakenham Road and only a few miles from the city centre. It’s an old village at heart, the round-towered church of St Edmund has stood above the Wensum valley since medieval times, but most of what you see today grew up from the 1960s onwards, wave after wave of estate housing that turned a small parish into one of Norwich’s biggest suburbs.
That mix is exactly why we know the area so well. Thousands of homes of a similar age means the same roofing jobs come round again and again, and we’ve handled most of them at some point. The River Wensum runs along the southern edge of the village, with Taverham Mill and its nature reserve nearby, and open Norfolk countryside starts almost as soon as the houses stop.
We cover the neighbouring patches too. Drayton, Thorpe Marriott, Costessey, Ringland, Felthorpe, Attlebridge and Horsford are all regular stops for us, so if you’re anywhere in this corner of Norwich and not sure whether we come out to you, just ask. The answer is almost certainly yes.
Usually within a few days for a quote visit. If you’ve got an active leak or storm damage we’ll do our best to prioritise it — just call and let us know what’s happening.
We’ll do whatever is actually needed. Plenty of jobs we go out to are repairs, and that’s what we quote for. If the roof genuinely needs replacing we’ll tell you why and show you what we mean. But we’re not in the business of upselling people who just need a tile fixing.
EPDM is a rubber membrane — very flexible, great for larger flat roofs, and handles thermal movement well. GRP is fibreglass — gives a rigid, seamless surface and is extremely durable. We fit both and will tell you which suits your roof rather than just going with the cheaper option to install.
Yes — 10 years on roof replacement and roofline work. That’s our promise that the job has been done properly.
Always, for repair and replacement work. No charge for coming out to Taverham.
Yes. We work on older Norfolk properties regularly. If your roof needs handling with a bit more care than a standard modern tile job, that’s not a problem for us.
