GRP Bay Window Roof on Walton Road, Norwich
We were asked to sort out a failing bay window roof on a house on Walton Road, just off Hall Road in Norwich. Bay window roofs are one of those areas that get forgotten about until they cause trouble. They’re small, low down and easy to ignore, but when they fail, water gets straight into the bay and the room behind it.
This one had seen better days. The old covering was worn out and no longer keeping the weather where it belonged. Rather than patching it, the owner wanted it done properly with a long-term solution. GRP fibreglass was the obvious choice.
What the Job Involved
Our roofing team stripped the old roof covering right back, clearing away all the failed material so we could start from a solid base.
The roof was then fully boarded with new decking, giving us a clean, stable surface to work from. Good boarding is the foundation of any GRP roof. If the deck isn’t right, the fibreglass won’t perform, so we take our time getting this stage spot on.
With the new deck in place, we laid the GRP fibreglass system. That means resin and fibreglass matting applied wet, bonded directly to the boards, then finished with a topcoat. The result is one continuous, seamless membrane with no joints, no seams and no weak points for water to find.
